Disaster in the dining room

I'm sitting in the living room reading books to Zoe when I hear...drip, drip noises. Curious I go around the entry way into the kitchen and the sink was turned off. Into the dining room I walk and the floor is covered in water, and I smell sewer! Oh no my first remodeled room is ruined. I called my hubby as he was visiting his brother and said honey you need to get home right now it's raining in the dining room. I ran upstairs to the bathroom and didn't find anything unusual. So I waited for dear hubby. He got home grabbed his box cutter and cut a hole in the ceiling.

The smell of old nasty water was horrible. He checked the pipes to the shower, and toilet and nothing was wet. He was stumped. Then, I remembered something. The tiles in the shower had been lifted from being so old. I asked him if the water had been dripping behind them and it finally gave out. He said I'm so smart...he didn't have to tell me that though lol. He went upstairs to the bathroom and ran the shower onto the wall where the tiles have lifted. Bingo! The dining room had water everywhere.

It seems to never end. Just when we get caught up on everything something happens. We ran to the Bargain Depot here and they had a cheap shower surround that we bought as we didn't want to spend a lot.

The bathroom is getting gutted soon for the remodel so we spent $39.00 on a cheap basic surround. I really like the basic look for now but cannot wait for the bathroom to get redone. It's much better than the ugly tiles that were in there.

No matter how many harsh chemicals I used the stains would not remove..We are happy with our cheapo buy:)
It's fixed for now but now we have the hole in the ceiling to fix. This weekend will be that project!

Happy Birthday Zoe McKenna!

Birth 4/14/2007

3 Years ago you came into our lives. 4 weeks early on April 14, 2007 at 2:49pm, but healthy as can be. At only 5lbs 9.5oz you were so tiny. Our little peanut. I was scared. Scared you would be in the NICU. But, you didn't. You were so strong, healthy and beautiful. My baby girl Zoe McKenna.

1st Birthday

You've grown up so much this past 3 years and I'm so proud of you. I'm very sad on this day as it's come to fast. You are our precious little daughter, who is filling our lives with joy and laughter and are filling our lives with lots of love!
I hope you have a wonderful Birthday sweet pea. I love you so much. Daddy and Gavyn love you so much!

2nd Birthday

Zoe today

I love this song sweetie....I just want you to be little!

Let Them Be Little by Billy Dean:

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Let them be little.

3 day weekend!

I am going to be taking the weekend off from blogging and enjoy my 3 day weekend with my family as this doesn't happen often. I'm extremely wore out from work. The weather has been beautiful so we are going to try to do something fun. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I think I'm obsessed.....

With moisturizers for my lips. I did the dreaded cleaning of my purse and this is what I found. Why would I need this many lip moisturizers? LOL well because it's winter of course! Oh and the Carebear one is Zoe's. She asks for "lipstick" constantly as well. This isn't including the ones in my bedroom and bathroom or my lipsticks I have in a basket. Do you have a tiny obsession for anything? I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Ice Castle Extravaganza

This past weekend was our annual President's Day Ice Castle Extravaganza. We braved the bitter cold temps, and on Valentine's Day bundled up and headed for the lake. The kids enjoyed seeing the castle. Gavyn was in amazement that they take all this ice from the like to make this. Zoe just kept saying yay ice castle! It's fun for the kids. Although, it was brutally bitter out we made it. We didn't stay long though.

I couldn't get very good pictures though as there was always people around it. So for those of you who have never seen an ice castle enjoy!

What would you do with an extra $100.00?

More parenting videos on JuiceBoxJungle

You have all seen the ad over in my sponsors area for Juicebox Jungle which I really hope you check out. If not click the ad in this post and check out what's going on and answer the polls! This month Kodak is on there and they have ink that can help us save money on high costs of ink. I know many people who have a printer but cannot afford to purchase ink as it's outrageous so I encourage you to check it out. So along these lines, Kodak and JuiceBoxJungle sponsored me to write this fun post, about what I'd do with a surprise extra $100 if someone handed it to me next month. Anyone could surprise me with some money any day! Wouldn't that be nice? We all could use an extra $100 especially with the economy right now. It's not very good and we would love to have a few extra bucks to spend on some much needed materials. Maybe, I'm greedy but this money would go towards our house. Not me, not hubby and not the kids. Us and our home! With our remodeling project well under way there are so many things I could purchase right now. Some paint because we are starting our living room very soon. We are thinking a warm gray or something along those lines. I also would get my molding for the entry way we just redid. We've decided the top would look fantastic with some nice crown molding. Just classy and my uncle actually just did his dining room with some and I think it looks amazing. Next on my list would be some black sheer curtains for my newly remodeled dining room. We redid it red and black and the horrible white lace things I have must go. They are dingy and not very modern and this is something that needs changed soon.

So if I were to have this extra money that is how I would use it. To projects for our home, to better it and hopefully one day when we do sell it, we are going to make a killing. So if you had an extra $100 in your pocket how would you spend it? Would you go pamper yourself? Go to a nice dinner? How about some new clothes? Would you spend on the kids or would you throw it into your savings? Let me know, I'm looking forward to hearing some answers :)

Allergic To Sitting Still?

Gavyn is 7 years old and literally off the walls. This boy does not stop moving from the time he gets up to the time he goes to sleep. His feet are either on the walls, on the furniture or wherever he can seem to bounce off of. Last night he was running around like a mad man. Here is the conversation that took place once he sat down to read a book.

Me: Gavyn honey please stop running and jumping off the furniture

Gavyn: Mommy I can't help it

Me: Why buddy

Gavyn: I'm just a kid and 7

Me: I understand that but your going to hurt yourself, just calm down

Gavyn: Mom I'm allergic to sitting still....it hurts

Me: (holding back laughing) That's a funny thing to be allergic to... Just try

Gavyn: Ok

Two seconds later he ran from the living room into the dining room and what did he do? Bounced his feet off the door way with some little dance he did. When does this hyperness stop? I know probably never. He's a 7 year old boy just full of it.
