Wordless Wednesday- In Memory Of Layla Grace

I came home from work tonight to log in to twitter to see the worst tweet from precious Layla Grace's family. She was 2-years-old and passed from Neuroblastoma. The tweet read: Layla went to play with the angels early this morning. Rest in peace precious Layla. 11/26/2007 - 3/9/2010

My heart just broke and I shed some tears. It just breaks my heart. She is now in heaven, out of pain. God has definitely gained a sweet angel today. Rest In Peace sweet baby girl. You will be in my heart and thoughts forever. I have lit a candle for you tonight. My thoughts go out to her parents and sisters tonight. www.laylagrace.org

Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter Review!

Zoe has recently just started to love Mickey Mouse. She asks to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse several times a day so when I was asked by www.mickeymousecookiecutters.com to review a Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter I just had to. I may not enjoy baking like I should but I do it. I just hate all the prep and clean up that goes with it. Cookie cutters are a must in any household though. Whether it's for cookies, pancakes, or just playing with Play-Doh you can't have too many.

Here is a little bit about www.mickeymousecookiecutters.com:

"Welcome to the largest selection of Mickey and Minnie Mouse cookie cutters online. We have searched the US and both Disney parks to produce a one stop shop for all the Mickey Mouse and cookie cutter fanatics around the world. Browse our site to check out some of the best Disney, Mickey, and Minnie Mouse cookie cutters. "

The Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter is definitely a very high quality cutter and will hold up for years. We will use it often! This is an official licensed Disney Mickey Mouse cookie cutter, about 5inches in diameter. I haven't had enough time yet but we will be making Mickey cookies soon. How much fun could you have making some sugar cookies and than having the kids make their Mickeys? Or how about something fun for a birthday party. You could have the cookies already done and ready to be decorated but the children. They even sell the black food coloring for this.

We did have time to do some fun chocolate chip cookies and cut out Mickey. Both kids really enjoyed this and thought it was neat that the cookie stayed looking like Mickey. I will be doing pancakes this weekend with it. This cookie cutter is only $5.85 which is very affordable. If you don't want one that is so big like I reviewed you can also purchase a small Mickey Mouse cookie cutter and a mini Mickey Mouse cookie cutter.

Zoe has already browsed around with me and has TOLD me to get the Mickey and Minnie Mouse cookie cutter set. So that is on my list next. They also ship internationally. Have a look. If you have a fanatic like me this site is definitely the right place to purchase your cookie cutters.

DISCLAIMER: This is a review based on my opinions only. Your opinion may differ. I was not compensated in any way for this post. I was sent a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter for my honest opinions.

Thank you to www.mickeymousecookiecutters.com

Mirra Beauty Care Review & Giveaway!

I'm all for trying out new beauty products. I love to be the first to know and test them out. It's the way I am. When I learned of Kroger's new Mirra Beauty Care line I had to try them out. Why? Well, they are made with natural ingredients and proven technologies of their products as well.

Mirra recently conducted an online survey for "What Women Want" with over 500 women asking a variety of questions about beauty care products and regimens. Here’s what women said:

* 77 percent said products that have both natural ingredients and proven technologies, work best. Only nine percent said products with all natural ingredients, alone, were best; and 14 percent said the same of science only products.
* 71 percent chose “Take 10” as the best description of their beauty style and routine. They said they don’t have a lot of time and don’t spend a lot of time on their beauty routine – 10 minutes at most. Other options included “soak and savor,” “60 minutes,” and “beat the clock.”
* Their description of a “bad hair day” was evenly split between “flat” (37 percent) and “frizzy” (35 percent). (15 percent said fly-away; 13 percent said oily).

I was sent a package with a variety of Mirra products. In my package I received a bottle of Daily Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner, which I love. They contain aloe extract, wheat and soy protein which leaves my hair soft and shiny. The scent is truly wonderful and you can definitely tell it's made of natural ingredients which are good for your hair. I love that about natural. I know that my hair isn't getting damaged by something from harsh ingredients. My hair is loving these and I can tell I have less frizzy hair that seems more manageable. I also received Mirra Daily Strong Sculpting Gel which contains Chitosan and ingredient which provides natural hold. I really like this gel. I get into moods where I just want to scrunch instead of going through all of the hassle of blow drying and straightening. It's a nice change to do this. The gel really holds up well and leaves a nice curl behind with my natural wavy hair. Next up the Mirra Renew Replenishing and Protective Body Washes. Love Love Love these. The smell, how silky my skin feels and how my skin looks after I use this. The replenishing wash has bamboo and honey extracts that leave my skin moisturized all day long. I can't describe how my skin feels after using this but I know I love it. The Protective Body Wash contains ginger extract cleanses and hydrates your skin to new levels. From the moment you open this bottle it's like a burst of citrus in your shower. It smells absolutely amazing due to the citrus scent. I cannot praise this body wash enough. Lastly, I received the Mirra Renew Protective Lotion. I'm iffy about this lotion. It is kinda watery going onto your skin and takes a moment to lose that feeling. I then get a sticky feeling after that which I don't like. I don't feel like this keeps my skin moisturized as I have to reapply often. It then gets greasy. I'm a picky person with lotions so it may just be me. I will say that it smells amazing just like the Protective Body Wash. It has a strong citrus scent and wakes you up that's for sure.

My overall take on Mirra Beauty Care products? I absolutely love them. I'm saddened I do not have a Kroger by me so I'm hoping you will be able to purchase online as I'm in love with the body wash. They have natural ingredients, smell amazing and do as they say. Leaving your skin and hair clean, and naturally beautiful. If you like your beauty products and live near Kroger try them out today.

Simply FaBOWlous Layla Grace Hat Fundraiser

In honor of precious Layla Grace and in an effort to try to help her family with their medical bills Simply FaBOWlous have named the Layla Grace Hat.

Layla Grace is very ill with stage 4 neuroblastoma. She became ill in 2009. Shanna her mom reviewed one of their hats, the White w/ Pink Peony Crochet Hat.

So, Simply FaBOWlous has decided to donate $5.00 from every Layla Grace Hat sold on-line to the family for the rest of 2010 (beginning March 1, 2010).

If you need this hat in an INFANT size you may order that size as well...View Infant Size Layla Grace HAT.

Moneys from this hat will be sent to the family each month. This is amazing as you can only imagine how much their medical bills must be. For more information on this wonderful fundraiser and how you can help click here to go the the hat fundraising page. This hat is adorable and would make a great gift as well. My prayers are with Layla Grace and her family constantly.

Guest Post: Nurse Barbara Dehn Sleeping Tips!

* One of the first things I always tell new moms is to lose the guilt! It’s inevitable for new parents to feel nervous, unsure and often guilty when caring for their infant – especially when it comes to sleep. I’m constantly reassuring both moms and dads to go with their gut feeling on all fronts and follow their infant’s lead. If your newborn tends to fall asleep in his swing or rocker – go with it! Not allowing yourself to feel guilty during the first few months will only help your baby acclimate to a schedule. Typically, confidence and a bit of relaxation will follow.

* Moms can maintain their baby’s natural sleep patterns and overall health with a proper feeding schedule. By establishing both day and night feeding routines that follow your infant’s natural hunger cues, you are helping your baby receive the nourishment that will support growth and development. When my patients ask about feeding with formula, I recommend Similac, which offers a wide range of specialized formulas and products all designed to support baby’s natural growth and development process by providing excellent nutrition no matter what time of day or night.

* Try to remain cool, calm and collected during the first few months of your baby’s life. Infants’ are on sensory overdrive and are attuned to both anxiety and fear. Mood, touch and sound are all stimulators and can interrupt your newborn’s sleep cycle. Keeping a calm atmosphere can help your baby find his natural sleep cycle.

* I often tell new moms to turn off the TV! Feeding time is often a good opportunity for mom to kick up her feet and unwind. Use this time to connect with your baby and avoid your regular relaxation routine like flipping on the TV. The light and noise can distract your newborn and interrupt his eating.

* Bath time does not always need to take place before bedtime. Some infants are extremely agitated from a bath, regardless of the calming scents, soft sounds and soothing touch you use. If you notice your baby is relaxed and calm without a bath before bedtime, go with it! Changing the bath time routine can make the overall experience more enjoyable for both mom and baby. This can also help your newborn develop daytime and nighttime routines.

Potty Tots Potty Training Kit Review and Giveaway!

Potty training time is here finally! Zoe showed many signs when she turned two and was actually going on the potty quite often. She then regressed and refused to go. I didn't force her to go as I learned from my first. We pushed the situation on Gavyn and it back fired. He would literally sit on the potty forever without going and then would go out side, pull his undies to the side and poop right in the grass, driveway or wherever it may be. Anywhere but the potty! So when asked to review a potty training kit from Potty Tots I jumped at the chance.

"The mission of Potty Tots is to provide creative, fun and safe products and programs that are child centered and designed to build self-esteem, confidence and independence. The Potty Tots goal is to provide our customers, suppliers and employees an experience and environment that is always focused on what is best for children through our products and our actions in our business and in the world community."

Potty Tots sent us a girl potty training kit for Zoe to try out.

Inside this kit was, a story/guide book, an animated DVD -featuring three original Potty Tots songs and 2 bonus music videos, one 11"X17" Illustrated potty chart which easily wipes clean with damp cloth, one 11"X17" Toilet Bowl" progress/reward game with clings and again easily wipes clean with damp cloth. She was extremely excited when it arrived. Not only was it for her but she received a letter personalized just for her with it. First, we put in the DVD which is a lot of fun. The story book and the DVD go hand in hand. We sat down and looked at the book while watching the DVD. The story is about two little girls Emily and her little sister, Lilly, who doesn't know how to go potty. When Lilly heads off to her first day of preschool, Emily comforts her by sharing a story of her experience in Miss Maggie's preschool class. It was potty time and Emily was scared as she didn't know how to go. But with the help of the illustrated potty chart and her friends, the Potty Tots, Emily learns the six steps to using the potty. Along the way, she makes new friends, learns the Potty Song and discovers that learning something new can be fun. It's a cute story that your child will truly enjoy and so will you. Zoe's favorite Potty Tot is Ally. There is a part in the story where Ally says, "don't forget to wipe from front to back!" Zoe giggles hysterically everytime. Plus she loves her blue dress with the heart on it. Now of course the Potty Tots Rock song is adorable, catchy and your child will jam to it. Zoe walks around now saying I can go to the potty now and I can do it all by myself!

So next we put the charts on the wall in the bathroom for her to easily read and reference to.

The potty chart is a huge help and Zoe actually walks in points to each illustration and then does exactly as it says and of course all by herself. She will then move her little girl cling on forward one space on the chart everytime she goes. I'm going to completely honest with you here. Zoe was not going potty before we received this kit.

Now 95% of the time she is dry, yells she has to go potty, goes straight in and goes. This kit truly has made an impact and has been so much help. She wants to read the book daily, watch the DVD several times a day and even just play with the charts. It's fun for her. It's not boring one bit and made just for toddlers.

You can also check out all the fun activities at www.pottytots.com. You get to meet the potty tots themselves, and the real potty tots who make the voices of the potty tots on the DVD. Read the story it will make you smile. You can even print pages to color and play fun games there as well. Moms and dads there's stuff for you too at the parent pages. Is you child ready to potty train? Read all the answers here to find out if they are ready. And when your child has finally mastered going potty all by themselves head back over and print out their diploma. This is my next step for Zoe. She is almost there and I'm so proud of her. I cannot thank Potty Tots enough for providing a fun interactive website and kit for my child. This has made her want to use the potty and has made me smile every step of the way without stressing out!

BUY IT: You can purchase your kits, and potty charts for affordable pricing at www.pottytots.com

WIN IT: Potty Tots has offered to give one kit boy or girl to one of my readers!
