Nerf Dart Tag Fury Fire 2 Player Set Review!

My son is a Nerf gun fanatic and loves to play any tag type of games. He has many of them and to add to his collection Hasbro sent us a Nerf Dart Tag Fury Fire for a review. This is a 2 player set that comes with an orange set and a green set. To keep your eyes protected from tagging each other with the darts make sure to put on your UVA and UVB ray-protecting VISION GEAR glasses!

Gavyn and his dad had a blast with this action packed game. With constant blasting, and trying to tag the opponent Gavyn loved this set. He would creep around corners waiting for dad to come out and he would blast him with his dart. They each wore their vests which have target zones on them allowing you to score points. Here is what Gavyn has to say about the Nerf Dart Tag Fury Fire:

"This game is really fun. I had a lot of fun beating daddy. He never shot me once. I really hope to get another set in the future so we can play in teams. It's one of the best Nerf products I have. If possible please make bigger barrels to hold more darts as it only holds 10 in each blaster."

So there you have it. Gavyn gives this two thumbs up. I have never seen him and his dad have so much fun. Daddy is a big kid at heart and watching them play this is exciting for me and puts a huge smile on my face. This game comes with instructions on 6 of the official dart tag games which we will try someday. I think they have more fun running around like crazy men and blasting away. Perfect game for any boy this holiday season.

Tips for a fun and safe ski season/ Camp of Champions

I thought this would be a great post since we are suppose to get up to 3 feet of snow by Friday :( Yuck. Here are some awesome tips for you skiiers:

Tips for a Fun and Safe Ski Season, by Ken Achenbach

1.
If possible, buy a season pass at a ski area near you. Season passes allow for skiing or snowboarding every day - after school, on weekends... The best cure for “Too-much-tvosis” is a season pass – plus, you get a wicked goggle tan! You won’t think about the price of skiing anymore. You think- let’s go for a few runs instead of “it’s $50,” I can’t go. And, make sure to keep all of your old season passes - they will be some of the best snapshots of your life.

2.
Make sure to get ski/snowboard clothes that fit well and are waterproof. If you’re a kid, it’s no fun being wet five minutes after you get outside. Wear layers. You’ll be warmer and more comfortable. Get some good long underwear as well. You want the kind that wicks sweat away so that you stay warm and toasty all day. If you are buying both a jacket and pants, buy the same brand because there is often a jacket to pant interface system that makes wearing the clothes even better. Don’t forget goggles. Not only do they protect your eyes from the elements, but they block a large part of your face from the weather, keeping you warmer. I wear Oakley’s because of their superior optics and fit. Most brands come in kid and teen sizes.

3.
You don’t need new equipment to have fun. If the decision is between a season pass or ticket, and new equipment, always go for the pass or ticket. However, if you ARE buying new equipment, don’t buy the first thing that you see. Do your research. You are spending more than just a couple of bucks, so don’t buy stuff just because “it looks rad.” Burton makes amazing kids’ snowboard equipment.

4.
Having said that you don’t need new equipment, keep in mind that you DO need equipment that fits. Putting a kid into equipment that is too big or too small just keeps the experience from being fun. Most stores have programs for junior equipment. Either a one-season rental, or you buy it and get half back the next year and trade for the next size up. With correctly sized equipment, your kids will have more fun, learn faster and develop a love for the sport they won’t lose.

5.
The most important piece of equipment is your boots. Get boots that fit and are designed for the kind of skiing or riding you are going to do. Badly fitting boots can make MMA fighters cry. Choosing wrong will quickly ruin your day. It’s better to have good boots and an OK board than the other way around. If your feet aren’t happy, neither are you.

6.
Parents: don’t be a hockey/soccer mom or dad. Yes, it’s exciting that your kid is doing well. Going snowboarding is a great way for kids to make friends, gain some independence and learn life skills. When a kid learns a trick on his own, he’ll be so stoked it’s worth the parental worry of “they’re on their own out there, anything, ANYTHING! can happen.” 99.9% of the time the ANYTHING! is a happy new experience. When kids come home from The Camp of Champions, parents tell us that for the next 11 months, all they hear about is how much fun they had, how many friends they made, and how many tricks they learned. Keep that feeling alive in the winter and let them loose on the hill. Drive your kids to the hill when they ask. You’ll be glad you did. Also drive them to the hill when they don’t want to go. Sometimes it takes a bit of a push on cold days to get kids going, but after the first couple of runs they forget. A ski area is the best day care anywhere.

7.
Know your limits and have common sense. While I often tell parents to turn their kids loose, this is also a good time to teach your kid to know their limits. Learning to ride with common sense is a great thing. Teach your kids that there are steps to progression. They can’t just do that “Big Trick” without learning all the steps needed to get there. Videos are great for inspiration, but learn the baby steps. Having said that… after learning the steps, the only way you are going see if you can do the big trick is by “Sending it.” Learn when to Send it - and when not to.

8.
Andre the Giant has a Posse - you should too. Always ski with a buddy. It’s good to have another voice of reason as well as to have someone to share memories with. Having a posse of friends to ride with makes the sport more fun. The other great thing about skiing with a buddy is that you always have a person who can back up your stories!

9.
Avalanches - The best prevention is avoidance. If you have bought your season pass and use it religiously, you will find yourself skiing on “the perfect day.” After a big dump, use your common sense and stay where you know it’s safe. Snow is sneaky. Always ride with a partner, and if you are going to be in mountains where avalanches can happen, use your common sense and have backcountry equipment - and know how to use it. Another option is to go with a guide. Guides have spent years in the mountains and know every inch, nook and cranny of the mountain - and that means they know where and when to ski certain areas. There is nothing more fun than a great day of safe skiing with a guide when the snow is fantastic.

10.
Take a lesson. As a Canadian snowboard legend and former pro rider puts it, suffering is optional. If you can shorten the learning/suffering curve, you will sooner learn to love the sport forever.

Camp of Champions Founder/Director Ken Achenbach is one of the original instigators of the snowboarding curse that now afflicts mountains worldwide. He started the first exclusive snowboarding store in the world, “The Snoboard Shop” in 1980, and campaigned tirelessly to get snowboarding accepted in Canada and other countries. He was inducted into the Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2001. Whether you are 13 or 31, the Camp of Champions summer snowboard, ski and mountain bike camp at Whistler Blackcomb offers the opportunity of a lifetime – the chance to train with the pros and spend a summer in the snow! Whistler Blackcomb will be in the spotlight next year as a host venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Greet 'N Eat Gifts!

While browsing around Reynolds Parchment site last night I came across these yummy looking treats that would be great gifts for kids. Yes sticky and sweet and the parents would probably kill us for giving these to children but they are still cute and I'm making them!!

Reynolds® Parchment Paper
1 3/4
cups DOVE® Brand Miniatures Milk or Dark Chocolate
8
cups popped corn or puffed rice cereal
2
cups mini marshmallows
1
cup M&M'S® Brand Milk or Peanut Chocolate Candies for the Holidays
6
tablespoons butter
1
16-oz. bag regular-size marshmallows
Clear plastic bags
Holiday ribbon

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9x2-inch pan with Reynolds Parchment Paper.

PLACE all unwrapped DOVE® Brand Miniatures in the parchment-lined pan. Place in the oven for 2 minutes, just to soften; set aside.

MIX cereal, mini marshmallows and M&M'S® Brand Peanut Chocolate Candies for the Holidays in a large bowl.

MELT butter and regular-size marshmallows in a large pan, over medium heat. Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal mixture, mixing to coat well.

SPREAD marshmallow and cereal mixture evenly on top of the DOVE® Brand Miniatures. Then, sprinkle plain M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies for the Holidays on top, pressing slightly.

REFRIGERATE until set, about 30 minutes. Use parchment to lift treat onto cutting board. Pull back parchment; cut into 1 1/4-inch squares.

FILL clear plastic bags with 3 to 4 squares and tie with ribbon.

MARS BRIGHT IDEAS TIP: These treats make perfect gifts for all of your child's friends. When your child sees someone special during the day, they can reach into their backpack and give a pouch of holiday wishes! Refrigeration time is 30 minutes, decoration time is 10 minutes.

Joo Joo Baby Review!

I'm a lover of anything that goes on the kid's walls. So when I saw JooJooBaby.com I knew I wanted to see what these wall panels were all about. Joo Joo Baby have modern wall decor that is light weight, non toxic and wonderful designs. Here is a little about Joo Joo Baby:

Modern • Colorful • Unique • Safe • Fun • and most of all, Stimulating!

"Lovingly named after our nickname for our daughter (joo joo means baby bird), joo joo panels are like nothing else on the market. We make them with 3/4-inch thick non-toxic foam: it’s safe, modern, lightweight, incredibly colorful and so easy to install...a big plus for busy parents like me.

On top of the foam, we mount glossy photo paper for the ultimate in graphic clarity and color vibrancy. This photo paper is specially sealed so it’s waterproof, fingerprint-proof and fade-proof. joo joo panels mount quickly and easily onto baby’s walls with a removable, non-damaging, self-adhesive foam square that’s 1-inch thick, so your panel appears to float."

I was given the opportunity to choose two panels for my review. So of course I wanted to choose something for both of my children. Gavyn is a pretty boring dude. If it doesn't have Army on it he wants nothing to do with it. So with that being said I knew without a doubt I wanted something green and not to babyish. So I browsed around the many designs and came across the cosmic baby panels. These panels are so hip, and fun. Here is the panel I chose:

This panel has light and dark green with many different size circles perfect for any boys room. When I received them I knew they were foam but I was amazed at the quality. These lightweight panels come with a square self adhesive backing that you peel on one end and stick to the panel, and the other end peels and sticks to the wall. They pop out of the wall giving them a wonderful effect that normal pictures don't. Here is how it sticks off the wall.

Gavyn loves this panel and has already asked for more. I plan on doing just that because this panel costs just $18.00 for the 8.5inch square.

For Zoe's room I knew I wanted pink because here room is magenta colored. When I asked her what she wanted she told me a monkey. I let my kids choose almost everything as it's their room. So on the browse I go. I found the Safari Baby panels. Score! Guess what was there? The perfect monkey with the perfect colors! Check it out!

He is the perfect little guy for her room. The colors are vibrant and match her room to a tee. Wouldn't you agree?

Joo Joo Baby has so many panels to choose from your going to fall in love. I want to purchase some for a few walls in my home. They aren't just for kids! They are fun, stylish and unique. You can even choose panel packagesthat have a variety of panels and themes chose by the design experts at Joo Joo Baby. How about a personalized panel with a photo of your child or their name? Joo Joo Baby can do that also. This would make the perfect gift for a baby shower, birthday, or any other gift giving event!

Christmas Decorating 2009

Saturday night we finally decided to decorate. We were behind this year as it's been hectic with work. So off to get a tree. A real tree! We bought an 8 foot tree to go in front of the big window in our living room. It's absolutely breathtaking. All these years with an artificial so this is awesome. The kids had a blast decorating. Now all I need is more decorations for the tree. The tree is just huge!!

Here is Zoe hanging a bulb. She had a little difficulty at first but got the hang of it in no time.

Gavyn of course had so much fun. It's a hard age at 7. He wants everything this year including the Xbox 360 which Santa has gotten. It's so expensive this age.

Here is their final tree. They were so proud although they don't look it. We do not decorate much. We let the kids do most of it as Christmas is all for them. They are so excited for Santa!

Wishing your family a wonderful holiday!! Are you all ready?

Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers Review & Giveaway!

I'm crazy when it comes to washing hands to prevent the spread of germs. I'm always telling my children "wash your hands" "did you wash your hands" If they say yes then my next question is always "long enough" Unless your constantly with your children when they wash your hands you have no idea how long they wash for. Articles are published daily on the concerns over swine flu and ways to protect ourselves and our children. While Hand washing is a simple precaution we can all take – the question for parents is “Are your kids washing their hands the right way?” This is where The Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers come into play. These neat little accessories fit over most liquid hand soap pump dispensers and feature children's favorite characters. When your child pushes down to release the soap it starts playing a song and blinks. It does this for 20-25 seconds, (the recommended wash time to eliminate germs to a level that will lead to better hygiene). It's a cool product that I feel any parent should have in their home. I am going to be purchasing more for the upstairs bathroom. I love that I don't have to switch brands of soap because these work with most soap dispensers.

We received Ariel and it has the tune of "Under The Sea" that plays. Zoe is constantly asking me to wash her hands. That's not a bad thing at all. She is only 2 so this timer is teaching her proper hand washing techniques. Anything that helps that this mom is all for. It's fun, keeps kids healthy and prevents the spread of germs! It has around 1,000 uses per timer and they are very affordable. The only thing I could ask for is more characters in the future as right now there is only Ariel and a Cars timer.

BUY IT: Awesome stocking stuffer idea! You can purchase a timer for $3.99 directly from GetHealthyHands.com

WIN IT: One of you will win a timer!

MANDATORY ENTRY: Tell me who this timer is for and which one you would get.

Suffer From Allergies? PreHistin Review & Giveaway!

I don't thankfully but my poor husband does. He has allergies so bad that I've seen him wake up with two black eyes, sinus problems constantly and just feeling icky all the time. He is the guy who must take medications everyday or he has major issues. When I was contacted to review PreHistin I jumped at the chance. Here is a little bit about PreHistin:

"PreHistin works by regulating and normalizing the release of histamines, which trigger the onset of allergy symptoms. By preventing or reducing the over-production of histamines before they are released, the need to rely on anti-histamines is eliminated (no more drowsiness!). Safe for adults and children 12 years and older, you can begin taking PreHistin cherry lozenges at any time, but it takes several weeks to see optimal results since it works by rebalancing the immune system to maintain a normal response to allergens. PreHistin is effective for both indoor and outdoor allergies, and is safe for long-term use year-round. There are no known adverse side effects, it is totally non-drowsy, and it is completely safe. PreHistin does not affect any medications you may be taking."

Chris has been taking this twice a day everyday since we received it and he can feel the difference. He has not used his prescription medications since and feels much better on this than those. He breathes easier. I have not heard of much sneezing or sniffling and I can say he acts much better. It's amazing how one product can make such a difference. Here is what hubby loves about this product:

~It's non drowsy
~He can operate a vehicle still while taking PreHistin
~Symptoms stay away
~Less attacks
~Light cherry flavor
~Doesn't taste like medicine
~Dissolvable lozenge

He states he would recommend PreHistin to ANYONE over the age of 12 as it really has helped him.

BUY IT: Right now you can order online 2 boxes for only $19.95 plus $6.95 S/H. That's a huge savings as it's regularly priced $29.99.

WIN IT: One of my readers will win a box of PreHistin (63 cherry lozenges in a blister pack; retail value $29.99)

MANDATORY ENTRY: Head on over to www.prehistin.com and tell me something you learned.

Histamines are responsible for creating the chemical reactions in the body, which trigger sneezing, nasal congestion and runny nose. Most products on the market are “anti-histamine” drugs, which means they attack the histamines after they are released, but often have irritating side effects, such as drowsiness. However, PreHistin is a pre-histamine, which means it regulates the release of histamine. By regulating the histamine release, the body may not overreact to foreign substances. PreHistin was clinically shown to effectively maintain healthy IgE levels, which have been linked to allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, nasal congestion and runny nose. PreHistin is made with a safe, all natural formula that contains a proprietary, patented cyanocobalamin (a pharmaceutical grade analogue of B12). For adults and children 12 years and over. More information about the product is available at www.prehistin.com.
